Gerrard: Rooney Has To Play in UEFA Euro 2016 – Manchester – Even though Wayne Rooney’s performance with Manchester United is slowly decreasing, it doesn’t make his popularity go down in England National Football Team. This English football player who is also known as Wazza gets a lot of support from Steven Gerrard to lead The Three Lion’s front line in UEFA Euro 2016. Rooney hasn’t scored any goals yet with Manchester United so far. The last time he successfully made goal in his opponent’s net which in CSKA Moscow. This happened on November 3, 2015 in Champion League.

In Champion League, he even was scored only two goals and it was in last October when Manchester United played with Everton. It threats his position in England team since there are so many local strikers who are on fire to score goals. Jamie Vardy is one of them. He has been scoring 15 goals in total so far with his team, Leicester City. Another one is Hary Kane, 22-year-old British man who has been collecting 11 goals with his team, Tottenham Hotspur.

In responding this case, Gerrard has his own judgment about his friend, Rooney. He thinks that even though the other fellow competitors has better statistic than Rooney, he hopes that Rooney will still fly to France with Manchester United to join UEFA Euro 2016. In Gerrard personal opinions, Rooney has the other factors.

He said to Daily Mail, Saturday, January 2, 2016 that despite Jamie Vardy and Hary Kane have done their job well, there is someone who has better chance in England to score some goals in bigger match. And in his statement, of course he referred to Wayne Rooney.

“Are you sure that you don’t need Wayne Rooney in the locker room? If there will be penalty in last 10 minutes to help the team get through the quarter-finals, who you will choose to kick the ball?” said ex captain of England National Football Team.

“Who was the inspiration in Manchester United’s locker room and England National Football Team before? Who can handle the pressure when the team cannot do its job pretty well? Wayne Rooney is not only one of the top scorer but he also can influence the team and for all the players,” Gerrard add.

In national team level, Rooney indeed showed different performance. He already scored 7 goals during the qualifications of UEFA Euro 2016. One of the goals made him top scorer of all time in England National Football Team with collecting 50 goals from 107 performances. He also beats Sir Bobby Charlton’s achievements.
